Spring 1 2020
The Spring term is always one of my favourite terms in schools, it always feels like you start seeing the fruits of your labour, this half term has certainly lived up to that.
It has been great to be involved in Peer Enquiry visits with teachers and school leaders across the trust this half term. There has been fantastic engagement and they have been received positively by all. The activity has been a real example of us ‘living and breathing’ our core values #childcentred #collaboration #curiousity #challenge.
It was great to meet with a number of Chairs of LGB this half term as we begin to try and give greater clarity to their role in schools and ensure that as a Trust we are better at communicating and providing a flow of information between LGBs and the Trust Board.
Many thanks to all Staff, Parents/carers, Governors and Directors for their hard work and support this half term. I hope you all have a wonderful half term break.

Work is ongoing to reinstate Kilnhurst. Contractors have stripped the school back to support the drying out process and ensure that the school is free from any contaminants.
We are still hoping that the work will be completed by the Summer term but the extreme weather conditions over the last few weeks have provided additional challenges.
Peter Haynes the Trust Chief Financial Officer left the Trust in January to start a new role at JMAT, another Rotherham based Multi Academy Trust. Peter has been with White Woods since 2015 and has contributed significantly to the work of the Trust and individual schools. We wish him well in his new role.
Nikki O’loughlin has joined us a Trust English Lead, she has already made a significant contribution and is supporting a range of work across the Trust as well as providing some focused school intervention.
We also welcome Neil Hemingway, HR consultant to the team. Neil is employed by S4S, who provide our Trust HR support but is currently based at The Pod three days a week to provide some additional Trust support.
Welcome to the tribe!
It has been a busy half term at Swinton Queen! Staff have been working hard on developing their reading curriculum and developing their library areas to support a love of reading. Both the KS1 and KS2 library areas have had a revamp – they look fantastic!
We love reading at White Woods!
Two of our schools have had inspections this half term. Whiston Junior and Infant School had a 2 day Ofsted Inspection and Wentworth C of E School had their Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) .
As soon as these reports are published we will, of course, share the outcomes.
We are delighted to welcome Matt Revill to the Trust. Matt has taken up post as Headteacher at Woodsetts Primary.
Mr Revill is an experienced primary headteacher who previously worked at Foxhill in Sheffield, he has a strong leadership track record, recently leading Foxhill through a second good Ofsted Inspection. Inspectors recognised the impact of his work and the school’s Leadership and Governance was graded as outstanding.
I am looking forward to working with him in the coming months and am sure you will all make him feel welcome.
We are delighted to be going Google this half term! As part of the Trust’s work on its ICT infrastructure, we have adopted the use of G Suite and Google Docs. The education accounts over schools and MATs a really affordable and user-friendly solution to document creation and sharing.
Many thanks to all of our schools and Andy, the trust ICT lead who have been so open to using the new system, it is great to see the collaboration already happening in some of our subject shared drives. #4Cs
