As you are aware, the announcement at 8pm last Monday gave schools and the Trust very little time to prepare and communicate arrangements to parents. Our school leaders and staff did an incredible job last week and were, and continue to be, grateful for the support you have shown them.
The Trust, and schools, received no guidance from the DfE until Thursday evening. This guidance stated that there was to be no limit to the numbers of critical workers’ children who could attend school, and attendance should not be discouraged. For some of our schools this has meant that the number of children attending has remained high, between 25- 50%; there has been a similar picture nationally. On Friday evening the DfE guidance was amended and now states ‘Parents and carers who are critical workers should keep their children at home if they can’.
Since March of last year, all schools across the MAT have received unwavering support from their respective school communities. I urge you to please continue to support us during these challenging times and if you are a critical worker only send your children into school if you have no other option.
Please contact your child’s school directly for any additional support or guidance.
