The role

You will learn and deliver a range of the following duties:

  • To contribute to a friendly and professional reception service to all visitors and callers, where applicable.
  • Research, prepare and supply information.
  • Use IT applications to support the full range of office processes.
  • Organise, arrange, prepare and minute meetings.
  • Develop and maintain office procedures – such as distributing mail and maintaining public
  • areas.
  • Excellent IT skills are required in order to maintain accurate records using a computer system
  • To carry out finance-related activities.
  • Keen interest in numeracy and accountancy
  • Develop and maintain effective work relationships with colleagues and customers, face to face or on the telephone.
  • Contribute to the improvement of personal and team performance.
  • Undertake studies/coursework to prepare for external examinations. Prepare portfolios as evidence of skills acquired with appropriate support and training in order to achieve an Accounting Qualification or alternative framework by agreement (subject to external funding).
  • Undertake appropriate development and training to fulfil the requirements of the post.
  • It will be expected that you deal with information in a sensitive and confidential manner

Responsibilities

  • To ensure telephone/visitor enquiries are responded to sensitively and resolved appropriately, directing more complex calls to appropriate staff.
  • To ensure documents/reports are prepared and formatted to Trust standards and within Trust deadlines.
  • To provide an effective, flexible and responsive finance support to schools.
  • To ensure that orders and invoices are processed accurately and within the Trust deadline,
  • Process BACS payments
  • Monitor and review un-reconciled items on an ongoing basis
  • Monitor and review outstanding orders on an ongoing basis
  • Receipting income, processing journals and producing reports as required

Selection criteria

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is educated to GCSE standard (English and Maths grade 4 or above) or equivalent
  • Ideally completed AAT Level 2 qualification
  • Is able to demonstrate an aptitude for the skills taught in the Apprenticeship (for example through work experience, qualifications or references)
  • Has experience of Microsoft Office/Google applications, including Word and Excel
  • Aspires to the successful completion of studies at Level 3 which is an essential requirement of this Apprenticeship.
